We’re celebrating the Diamond Jubilee on Saturday June 2nd in true British style – with a tea-party of course!
Serving up tea and cake for a gold coin donation on fundraising stalls throughout the market will be Great British institutions The Salvation Army and the Women’s Institute. (Did you know the Queen herself is a WI member?) The WI are busy baking, Hummingbird Bakery are donating some of their scrumptious cakes and B-Tempted are giving gluten-free treats.
There’ll also be thousands of sample packs of delicious Clipper tea to give away, so if you can’t have tea with us, you can always take home some cake and have a tea party of your own.
You’ll be able to see how Portobello market looked 60 years ago with The Museum of Brands recreated 1950s market stall, plus archive photographs displayed as close as possible to where they were originally taken.
The market will be dressed to the nines in patriotic style, there’ll be balloons galore, and a right royal photo opportunity.
Enter our contest on the day for a chance to win a day out for two at Portobello worth over £120; breakfast at Mike’s Cafe, lunch at La Cibeles, a visit to the Museum of Brands, dinner at Goode & Wright and a movie at the Gate Cinema. (See full terms and conditions here.) In addition we’ve got 40 Notting Hill shopping bags to give away for runners-up.
So save the day, and come and see us at our festive best!
Stop Press: The I Love Markets team will be joining us with their fabulous photo-booth. Let them style you for a party in regal style, then take to the throne to have your portrait taken. See details here
