In this regular feature we turn the spotlight on three of our favourite Portobello and Golborne Market stalls.
MADWUNZ
Madwunz produces quality cotton t-shirts with original designs. Sahara is the force behind Madwunz and she’s been running her Portobello Road stall since 2015. She designs and hand prints the original t-shirts that the stall sells. Sahara is a self-taught artists and designer and her original artwork is inspired by history, nature and the small things that she notices in her daily life, plus a keen sense of humour.
The t-shirts are made in a full range of adult and children’s sizes and are screen printed by hand with mainly water-based inks which can be machine washed and ironed. She’s on Portobello Road between Elgin Crescent and Blenheim Crescent on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

BROCANT
Brocant sells an eclectic mix of the decorative and the unusual, in fact anything that catches the eyes of Gary Nicholls and Ramon Mensink on their regular buying trips around European flea markets. Their Portobello Road stall is thoughtfully designed and laid out, sure evidence of their excellent judgement in picking the amusing and the attractive. You’ll find everything from ceramics to religious icons and taxidermy to antique medicine bottles.
The stall is on Portobello Road between Cambridge Gardens and Golborne Road every Friday and Saturday and it’s a must-visit if you’re looking for some quirky additions for your interiors or a signature piece to liven up your living room.

ANDY MORANT TOYS
Andy Morant has been trading on Portobello Road for 27 years – and his mother had a stall before him, so the market is in his blood. He’s got the most fantastic selection of vintage diecast toys and models. There are scale models of cars from all eras plus a veritable army of authentic antique lead soldiers.
Andy is on the market on Fridays and Saturdays. You’ll find him at Pitch number 5 just at the junction of Portobello and Westbourne Grove on Saturday and a little further north at pitch 35 on Friday. Just look out for his infectious grin – a certain sign that this is a man who loves his work.
